Product Description

RFID Anti-Tamper Coding Safety Switches
Description

Non-contact safety switches are interlocking devices that are designed to protect both people and machines. They are preferred in certain applications where no physical contact (under normal conditions) takes place between the switch and actuator.
The RFSS Series of safety switches combines magnetic locking and radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology to provide non-contact operation and high anti-tamper coding. In addition an electromagnet is used to lock machine guards.

Only when the actuator is in the correct position can the lock be achieved and the safety outputs closed.
The switch provides two safe switching outputs for use with popular safety relays as well as a semi-conductor auxiliary signal to indicate the door position.
The RFID coding is offered in two types and can be either coded by series or uniquely coded.
Master Coded - by series (any actuator will operate any switch) this is used when unique door activation is not required, but the benefit of RFID makes it virtually impossible to be overridden or by-passed by simple means.
Uniquely Coded - the switch is factory set and used when unique activation is required in areas where there are many interlocked doors and security of individual areas is required.
The RFSS series RFID locking switches use two LEDs to indicate all the possible switch states (locked, unlocked, guard open, door forced open, wrong actuator code). The LEDs are in a clearly visible location on either side of the cable exit point.

  • Features
  • Heavy duty or medium duty holding force models available
  • Master coded or uniquely coded actuation
  • RFID provides a high degree of anti-tamper, virtually impossible to override
  • Flexible actuator for a high degree of misalignment tolerance
  • Able to connect to most popular safety relays to achieve up to PLe and Cat.4 for ISO3849-1
  • Ability to connect up to 20 switches
  • IP69K rating for food processing applications (stainless steel)
  • Choice of 8-wire cable or M12 quick connect (purchase cables separately for the M12 QC)
  • Remanence magnetization acts as a light magnetic latch after unlocking
  • (2) N.C. (door closed - lock energized) safety outputs, overload protected
  • (1) N.O. auxiliary output for indication of door open
Includes both switch and actuator

Mounting
The FR range of safety switches can approach each other from most angles. When the guard is closed the targets on the printed face of the switch and actuator must be aligned.

Mount the switch on to the machine frame and the actuator on to the opening edge of the door.

Use the tamper proof screws provided to make the installation more secure.

Do not use the safety switch as a door stop. Leave a minimum of 50 mm between any adjacent switches.
